Investigating the Effect of Cognitive-Behavioral Stress Management Training on Depression, Anxiety and Stress of Employees

Introduction. All employees in different organizations are always exposed to anxiety, depression and stress due to the presence of various stressors, which is the result of negative thoughts and cognitive distortions. Based on this, it seems that changing it seems that changing thoughts and feelings that influence behaviors, will reduce these negative psychological states. For this reason, this research was conducted with the aim of investigating the effect of cognitive-behavioral stress management training on depression, anxiety and stress of employees. Method. This research was a semi-experimental type of research, the sample of which was ۴۰ employees of a petrochemical company in Mahshahr. To determine the research sample, ۴۰ people who scored the highest score on the depression, anxiety and stress scale (DASS۲۱) were selected and randomly assigned to research groups (experimental group N=۲۰ and control group N=۲۰). The sample members responded to the depression, anxiety and stress scale (DASS۲۱) in the post-test, and the experimental group was affected by the cognitive-behavioral stress management training intervention for ۸ sessions of ۱.۵ hours. The control group was actually the waiting group that later participated in the training intervention. The data were analyzed by analysis of covariance in SPSS-۲۴ software. Findings: the results showed that cognitive-behavioral stress management training was effective on employees' depression, anxiety, and stress, and the average of these three variables decreased in the post-test in the experimental group more than the control group (P<۰.۰۵). Conclusion. Based on the findings, it is recommended for organizations and organizational officials not to ignore the thoughts and behavior of employees in order to reduce depression, anxiety and stress of employees and give them the necessary training so that they can benefit from the advantages of reduced depression, anxiety and stress.
