In this research, the cost optimization of singly reinforced concrete beams subjected to a uniformly distributed design loads was explored. This optimization considered various grades of steel and differing compressive strengths of concrete. The procedure is influenced by numerous constraints, which determine the global optimum solution. The primary objective of this study was to minimize the total cost of the reinforced concrete beam. The design variables included the dimensions of the beam section. To achieve the desired cost optimization, a dedicated code was developed within the MATLAB environment, utilizing the Water Cycle Algorithm for optimization. Upon analysis, the results are presented and significant conclusions drawn.
