چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: Iron deficiency anemia is the recurrent micronutrient insufficiency in the world. studies have demonstrated that iron deficiency rises oxidative stress and decreases antioxidant enzymes, and studies of male infertility showed that oxidative stress may disturb male reproductive functions. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of iron deficiency on male reproduction system.Method and material: This study was a systematic review about the effect of the effects of iron deficiency on male infertility . We searched in articles that were published in Pub Med Medline database (from ۲۰۱۳ to ۲۰۲۳).Result: Some previous studies displayed Iron deficiency affects iron-porphyrin enzymes such as peroxidases and catalase. Blocking of defense mechanisms causes the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and upsurges oxidative stress, leading to mitochondrial, DNA and other cellular damage, thus making apoptosis. According the other articles, iron deficiency modified testicular anti-oxidative enzymes and protein expressions of apoptotic markers to affect testosterone biosynthesis-linked to enzymes and the serum testosterone level, and thus affected spermatogenesis and the morphology of the testis.According some data, the anemic rat was treated with iron supplement associated with significant enhancement of sperm parameters coupled with amplified serum concentrations of testosterone, LH, and FSH. These positive alterations may recover the reproductive ability of these patients. These effects on spermatogenesis are touched by an unknown mechanism and recommend a number of pathways that need further human and/or experimental researches.conclusionThe results of this study established the potential effects of iron deficiency on testis function and prospective repairement resulting from iron supplementation after iron deficiency.
