A TAXONOMIC REVISION OF AEGILOPS CRASSA BOISS. (POACEAE) IN IRAN

The morphological characters of Aegilops crassa Boiss. and its distribution in Iran was studied using ۳۲ populations. A wide range of variation in quantitative (plant height, awn length of lemma of upper spikelet, teeth length of glume of upper spikelet and spike length including awn) and qualitative (spike shape, glume hair and leaf surface) characters were found; however no subdivision in this species reasonably appeared to be valid. Geographically, Aegilops crassa occurs mainly along Zagroos mountains in the western parts of Iran.
