چکیده مقاله:
Introduction: In the educational process, teachers and studentsare in constant interaction with each other. Professors play themost important role in the education of students.The aim of thisstudy was explaining the concept of empowerment in facultymembers of Guilan University of Medical Sciences.Methods: In this qualitative study, the data were collectedthrough purposeful sampling and deep and semi-structuredinterviews with ۱۱ faculty members in ۲۰۱۸. The data wassaturated after ۱۱ interviews. Data analysis was carried out usinga conventional content analysis method. To determine the mainCategories, the initial codes were reviewed, and classified inseveral stages. Finally, ۲۵۴ codes were extracted.Results: Five categories: personal characteristics, individualskills, knowledge and scientific skills, the use of newtechnologies and external and internal System support wereextracted. Also, “The capable professor is a perfect human withall necessary qualifications for education “emerged as the maintheme.Conclusion: In this study, the professors considered all thenecessary qualities for a teacher in the process of education as theempowerment criteria. Considering the characteristics stated bythe professors can help the managers and practitioners of the fieldof education in enhancing and promoting professor'sempowerment. The results of this study can be used for furtherstudies in this field.
