چکیده مقاله:

Background & Objectives: Migraine is a chronic neurovascular disorder defined by moderate to severe throbbing headache attacks that are usually accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and photophobia. According to a global report from the World Health Organization, migraine is the third most common disease and the sixth most disabling disease in the world. Migraines are two to three times more common in women than men. There are different curing medical methods, however, most of them have various harmful side effects such as Tingling, Sleepiness, Flushing, and Throat and chest tightness. The most important substance, that can improve migration and its side effects, is Q۱۰ (Ubiquinone). The Q۱۰ can found in various sources like Heart, liver and kidney, Pork, beef and chicken, Trout, herring, mackerel and sardine, Spinach, cauliflower and broccoli. This coenzyme has some activities as a mitochondrial component involved in the electron transport chain and energy metabolism and as an antioxidant that can show its nature to manage migraines. Matherial & Methods: Web of Science, PubMed, and Google Scholar databases were used to identify articles published in related fields. ۳۱ articles have been included, of which ۱۸ studies are about the relationship between migraine and COQ۱۰ and ۱۳ studies are about the molecular mechanisms of Q۱O effects on migraine headaches. Findings: Abnormal mitochondrial function can lead to increased calcium absorption by cells, excessive production of free radicals, and decreased antioxidant protection. This can lead to low energy in brain cells and even migraines. Fat cells contain Q۱۰. This coenzyme absorbs by the gut and the absorption of this element increases up to ۳ fold by foods. Because CoQ۱۰ resides primarily in the mitochondria of cells, it has been shown to improve mitochondrial function and help reduce the inflammation that can occur during migraines. Studies have shown that people with low CoQ۱۰ levels experienced fewer and less severe headaches after treatment with CoQ۱۰. Conclusions: Based on results, CoQ۱۰ can declines the number and Severity of attacks and also can be effective in persons who have migraine in various intensity. However based on studies quality, more research are needed.
