Evaluation of quality of work life of nurses and anxiety, stress and depression in Qom University of Medical Sciences in epidemic COVID۱۹

Background & Objectives: Managing anxiety, stress and depression can reduce the quality of work life of nurses and thus improve satisfaction and improve the quality of nursing care. Therefore, the present study was conducted to investigate the quality of work life of nurses and anxiety, stress and depression in Qom University of Medical Sciences in epidemic COVID۱۹.Methods: A cross-sectional study was performed on ۲۰۰ nurses working in teaching hospitals of Qom University of Medical Sciences. Sampling method was convenience. The Walton Quality of Life Questionnaire and the Anxiety, Stress and Depression Inventory were used to collect data. Descriptive, independent t-test, Pearson correlation and linear regression tests are used to analyze the data using SPSS software.Results: The mean age of nurses was ۳۴± ۱.۶. The mean score of nurses' quality of work life was ۴۴.۶ ± ۷.۱, anxiety was ۱۵.۳± ۰.۶, depression was ۱۰.۱۵± ۰.۹ and stress was ۱۹.۲۵± ۰.۴. Quality of work life was significantly associated with anxiety (r = -۰.۴۵۶, p = ۰.۰۴۸), stress (r = -۰.۳۹۹, p = ۰.۰۰۶) and depression (r = -۰.۵۴۲, p = ۰.۰۳۹). Based on regression test, relevant department and work experience had an effect on the relationship between quality of work life and anxiety, stress and depression (P <۰.۰۵).Conclusions: Nurses' quality of work life, stress and depression were moderate and anxiety was high. With increasing anxiety, stress and depression, nurses' quality of work life decreases. People in special wards, emergencies and high work experience had lower quality of life. Therefore, it is recommended that nursing managers minimize their anxiety, stress and depression by holding psychological counseling sessions.
