چکیده مقاله:

Background and Objective: Demand for textile products experiences a dramatic growth globally as a result of population explosion along with changed lifestyle and appearance of new fashions (۱). Unfortunately, applying conventional methods for wastewater treatment did not show a significant performance to remove these compounds, so these can enter to aquatic environments (۲). High toxicity, and carcinogenic effects, increasing allergic reactions in humans will lead to health and environmental hazards if they are not removed from wastewater (۳). Therefore, its removal from water sources is greatly desired (۴). In the current study, adsorption process by modified zeolite was applied to remove the dye from textile wastewater. Methods and Materials: In the current work response surface methodology (RSM) was applied to optimize and evaluate the effect of operating factors on the removal efficiency. The effect of various variables including: initial dye concentration, pH solution, adsorbent dosage, and reaction time were investigated using adsorption process by modified zeolite.Findings: Adsorption process was applied successfully with removal efficiency of ۹۶.۵% under optimal operating conditions of initial dye concentration of ۲۱.۵.۶ mg L-۱, pH of ۶.۵, adsorbent dosage of ۰.۴۰ mg L-۱, and reaction time of ۶۰ min. Regression analysis showed good fit of the experimental data to the second-order polynomial model with coefficient of determination (R۲) value of ۰.۹۹۲۸, adjust correlation coefficient (Adj.R۲) value of ۰.۹۸۳۷ and predicted correlation coefficient (pred. R۲) value of ۰.۹۷۸۰. The kinetics of the process followed the second-order model (R۲=۰.۹۹۶۱) and the isotherm of the process best fitted by the Langmuir adsorption model (R۲=۰.۹۷۶۸).Conclusions: According to the obtained results, modified zeolite has a good performance in removing dye, and it can be used as a suitable and reliable adsorbent for treatment and removing dye from textile wastewater.
