چکیده
Introduction: Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are amajor public health concern globally. STIs can cause serioushealth problems, particularly in women and infants. Among thevarious types of STIs, human papillomavirus (HPV) is one ofthe most common and widespread sexually transmitted agentthat is responsible for about ۹۵% of cervical cancer cases. Accordingto recent studies, there is a strong correlation betweenHPV infection and other STIs such as as Chlamydia trachomatis,Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Ureaplasma urealyticum and Mycoplasmas(hominis/genitalium). It is believed that co-infectionwith these agents may increase the risk of HPV persistence andprogression to cancer.Materials and Methods: In this study, we aim to assess theprevalence of Ureaplasma urealyticum and Mycoplasmas (genitalium/hominis) in HPV-positive patients. ۶۰ samples include۳۷ woman (Cervical Brushes) and ۲۳ men (Urethral Swabs)were randomly selected. DNA extraction was done using FavorPrepNucleic acid extraction kit and the state of HPV infectionwas assessed by High+Low PapillomaStrip kit (Operon).Positive samples was tested for contamination with above-mentionedSTIs by conventional PCR using designed primers on۱۶s rRNA.Results: ۴۵/۶۰ Samples were Positive for at least one HPVgenotype. ۴% of patients (۲/۴۵) was positive for Mycoplasmagenitalium, ۸.۸% (۴/۴۵) was infected with Mycoplasma hominis, and ۲۴.۴% (۱۱/۴۵) had a contamination with Ureaplasmaurealyticum. Conclusion: Here we report, Ureaplasma urealyticum as themost common STI agent among HPV-positive individuals. While these bacteria are naturally present in some individualswithout causing any harm, they can also lead to severe symptomssuch as infertility and PID in women, and inflammationof the testicles or urethra in men. It has been suggested that coinfectionwith other STIs may affect the natural history of HPVinfection; Therefore, it is important to screen for other STIs inHPV positive individuals and provide appropriate treatment toreduce the burden of these infections and prevent long-termconsequences.کلیدواژه ها
