چکیده مقاله:

The present study was an attempt to provide a deep discussion onalienation as the results of the capitalist system in One Flew over theCuckoo's Nest (۱۹۶۲) by Kenneth Kesey (۱۹۳۵–۲۰۰۱). As Foucaultbelieves, capitalism operated through the controlled insertion of bodiesinto the machinery of production. Thus, the control of the body incapitalist production allowed the formation of such a power thatstraightforwardly manipulated and subjugated human bodies. Based onsuch an idea, first, the researcher tried to find out how the characters inthis novel are described from the point of view of the capitalist system.Second, the writer tried to find out what kinds of alienation thecharacters suffer from. The researcher indicated that the charactersexperience various stages of alienation within the so-called powerorientedand capitalist system. In this system, working-class peopleregarded as proletariat suffer from oppression, social discrimination, the injustice of the law, and exhausting labor condition only because oftheir social background and also the fact that they are, to some extent, imprisoned in the black coffins of a capitalist system where they haveno will, no choice and consequently, no power to escape from
