چکیده مقاله:

Soil plays a pivotal role in agricultural production, and its significance in ensuring the production of wholesome agricultural products cannot be overstated. However, with the burgeoning global population and limited arable land, the utilization of chemical fertilizers, fossil fuels, and continuous tillage has become widespread in order to enhance crop yields. Unfortunately, the unregulated application of fertilizers, pesticides, and conventional tillage practices has resulted in substantial disturbances to the health and productivity of agricultural ecosystems. Consequently, this has led to the deterioration and depletion of soil health, as well as increased exposure to various environmental pollutants, ultimately compromising the well-being of human societies. In this context, cover crops have emerged as a viable approach to promoting long-term soil quality and health. Numerous studies have unequivocally demonstrated the positive impact of cover crops on the physical, chemical, and biological characteristics of soil. This review aims to provide a comprehensive scientific analysis of the overall effects of cover crops on soil properties.
