Poly acrylamide Modified Salep as a Natural Superabsorbent

Superabsorbent polymers (SAP) are a class of polymeric materials that have theability to absorb and retain a large amount of water in aqueous solutions [۱]. SAPs are aunique class of three-dimensional cross-linked polymeric networks and are used in variousfields [۲]. In this study, modified salep with polyacrylamide was used as a superabsorbent.Free radical polymerization and reversible addition fragmentation polymerization methodswere applied to modified salep [۳]. Polyacrylamide was cross-linked by a curing agent andthe obtained hydrogel had better strength and the water absorption capacity increased.Swelling measurements show that the water absorption rate has increased to ۳۰۲۰ %. thecharacterization will also be done by FT-IR, SEM, TEM, TGA, … analysis.
