Analysis and evaluation of trace elements contents especially lead and cadmium in Iranian olive samples using ICP-OES

Concerns facing countries; are Heavy metals in water, food and soil that directly and indirectly affect human health through inhalation and food. During this study, the amount of heavy metals manganese, iron, copper, zinc, lead and cadmium in olives of Guilan province, which is the center of olives in Iran; was measured. ۱۳ olive samples were selected and the concentration of heavy metals in it was measured by ICP-OES. The results indicate that the concentrations of cadmium, lead, manganese, iron, zinc and copper in the samples of Guilan olives are ۰.۰۵۶ ± ۰.۰۱۹, ۰.۵۶۴ ± ۰.۱۷۰, ۲.۰۱۷ ± ۰.۲۱۱, ۷.۵۷۷ ± ۱.۳۱۲, ۱.۸۴۶ ± ۰.۳۸۷ and ۴.۱۴۷ ± ۰.۹۰۱ and In imported samples it was ۰.۰۶۵ ± ۰.۰۱۴, ۰.۴۹۴ ± ۰.۱۵۳, ۱.۲۹۵ ± ۰.۳۵۳, ۳.۴۶۵ ± ۱.۰۶۶, ۱.۳۵۷. ۰.۴۱۲ and ۴.۱۰۳ ± ۱.۳۳۵. According to the results, the amount of lead in all Iranian samples except one was less than the allowable level. It was also observed that the concentration of all metals except lead in foreign samples was lower than Iranian. Since olives are one of the most popular food items in the area and are considered by travelers; Continuous monitoring of heavy metals in this food is essential.
