چکیده مقاله:

Bird cherry-out aphid, Rhopalosiphum padi, is one of the serious pests of cereals in different parts ofworld, which causes sever yield loss both by direct feeding and by transmitting barley yellow dwarf virus. The present study was carried out in university of Mohaghegh Ardabili to evaluate the effect of somewheat lines on life history traits of R. padi and recognize several resistant lines to this aphid. Initial testsscreened for resistance or susceptibility of 40 wheat lines in the growth chamber conditions at 25±1˚C,60±5 RH and a photoperiod of 14L:10D. The population of R. padi was originally obtained from wheatfields of Ardabil province. Mean number of aphids on plants of each line in day 14 after infestation werecalculated and eight lines with relatively high, intermediate and low levels of resistance were selected toinvestigate biological characters of aphid on them. Based on the obtained results, the immature survivalranged from 79% to 100% on different wheat lines. Additionally, the developmental time of immaturestages varied from 7.1 day on ERWYI 87-20 to 7.7 day on ERWYI 87-6. The highest and lowestfecundity of aphid were 62.4 and 24.2 nymphs per female on ERWYI 87-1 and ERWYI 88-8respectively. There were no significant differences in reproductive period and adult longevity of aphid onwheat lines examined. According to the results, three wheat lines (ERWYI 88-8, ERWYI 87-6 andERWYI 87-4) were relatively resistant to bird cherry-oat aphid.
