چکیده مقاله:

The cotton-melon aphid, Aphis gossypii Glover (Hom.: Aphidiae), is an important insect pest oftomatoes in the farms and greenhouses. In the greenhouse its damage rankes second to the whiteflies(Bemisiatabaci Gennadius). In this research the resistance of nine different tomato cultivars including:Strian, Caligen, Super Bita, Super Strian, Super Af1, HAS2274, GS-12-f1, Sun-6200 f1 and Calj wasinvestigated in greenhouse. The longest and shortest mean development times of the aphid nymphs wereobserved on HAS2274 (6.9 day) and Calj (5.4 day), respectively. The highest number of nymph wasproduced on Calj (27.2 number) and the lowest on HAS2274 (7.8 number). The highest net reproductiverate (R0) was observed on Calj (26.3) and the lowest R0 on HAS2274 (7.8). The highest and lowest rmvalues were observed on Calj (0.306) and HAS2274 (0.185), respectively. The shortest doubling time ofthe population (DT) on HAS2274 (3.7 day) and the longest DT on Calj (2.2 day) were observed. Therefore, HAS2274 and Calj were the most resistant and susceptible tomato cultivars respectively to thecotton-melon aphid among the cultivars that were studied in this research.
