چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: During of postpartum, body magnesium level reduces. Studies have shown that treatment by MgO nanoparticles (MgO NPs) can improve behavioral parameter in animal models. The aim of the present study is investigation the effects of acute and chronic usage of MgO NPs on motor in-coordination disorder induced by postpartum depression (PPD) model.Materials and Methods: Adult female mice were divided in to groups of controls (receiving saline or /and sesame oil), groups PPD alone and/ or with receiving MgO NPs ۱, ۵ and ۱۰ mg/kg (IP/ acute and chronic). Postpartum depression was induced by chronic injection of progesterone for ۵ days and depression behavior was evaluated by tail suspension test three days after stopping administration (progesterone withdrawn). Inverted screen test was used to evaluation motor coordination .Results: Progesterone withdraw induced PPD (p<۰.۰۵). PPD disrupted motor coordination (P<۰.۰۱) while acute and chronic injection of MgO NPs ۱ and ۵ mg/kg improved it significantly (P<۰.۰۰۱).Conclusion: Probably acute and low dose of MgO NPs can be a suitable supplement for improving motor in-coordination induced by PPD.
