چکیده مقاله:

Different compositions of PMMA bone cements including different amounts of solid phase, liquid phase, and nano-silica filler are provided according to an experimental design (۱۷ samples). After blending, the specimens are injected into specific moulds (۲.۵ cc syringe). Then, the moulds are placed in an oven at ۳۷° C for a full day. After that, FE-SEM is utilized to monitor the homogeneity of the dispersion of the powder element as well as filler in the cement matrix. Additionally, radiographic images of ۱۷ samples were taken in order to detect the dispersion of components and bubbles in the samples. The results show FE-SEM micrographs illustrate decent dispersion and distribution of the powder component in the matrix unlike the filler that showed only good distribution. Also, the radiographic images show that in some samples there is no good dispersion of the ingredients and in others, the presence of bubbles is observed, which is the case with the FE-SEM images. Therefore, in this survey, we intend to introduce the radiographic method as a reliable and cost-effective method for detecting bubbles and components dispersion compared to a FE-SEM test.
