چکیده مقاله:

Introduction and Objective: Vitamin D deficiency can play a role in different functions that are involved with risk factors associated with central adiposity and waist circumference values. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between central adiposity and the risks of vitamin D deficiency in adults.Method : This is a review study conducted through an advanced search of reputable scientific databases and websites, including Google Scholar, PubMed, Scopus, and ScienceDirect. Keywords used include “Central Adiposity”, “Vitamin D deficiency”, “Waist Circumference”, “Adolscence” and articles reviewed from ۲۰۱۵ to ۲۰۲۲. After the initial search, only the title and abstract were examined for relevance to the study objectives and the unrelated articles were excluded. The articles related to the study were also evaluated through the JBI tool. Finally, ۵ relative studies were eligible for systematic review. Results: The studies illustrated that the prevalence of vitamin D deficiency was considered high in obese adolescents and their relationship with the abdominal obesity and related diseases was found in adolescents. High level of waist circumference, as an indicator of central adiposity, is related to the increased risk of serum vitamin D deficiency and insufficiency. Conclusion: High waist circumference values are associated with an increased risk of vitamin D deficiency in adults. However, more studies are needed to confirm the relationship between central adiposity and the risks of vitamin D deficiency in adults.
