Post-COVID-۱۹ syndrome after SARS-CoV-۲ infection

Introduction and objective: Post Corona virus ۲۰۱۹ syndrome (post Covid-۱۹), which concludes persistent symptoms after recovering from severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-۲ (SARS-CoV-۲) infection. Knowing the symptoms that can occur, could have a major impact on the healing process of patients affected by long COVID-۱۹.Method: In this study, we assigned covid-۱۹ patients who were discharged from hospital after their recovery from September ۲۲ ۲۰۲۰ to August ۲۳ ۲۰۲۱, including total number of ۲۰۱ respondents, to answer a questionnaire of symptoms that they may have experience at the time including pulmonary, cardiac, dermal, neurological and musculoskeletal symptoms.Results: Patients were assessed a mean of ۱۷۶ days after being discharged from hospital. In total ۸۳% of the participants experienced at least one of the persistent symptoms that was studied in this trial. The most common symptom was fatigue (۵۴.۲%) and after that dyspnea (۴۱.۸%) was the second symptom that was seen more. Hair loss and weight loss was seen in a large number of participants with ۳۱.۳% and ۲۴.۴% of occurrence. ۲۳.۹% of participants were suffering from insomnia. Musculoskeletal symptom like myalgia was seen in ۱۹.۹% of participants and ۱۳.۴% of them suffered from arthralgia. ۱۲.۹% of participants were experiencing headaches. Dry cough was seen in ۱۹.۴% of them, and ۱۳.۹% of them reported chest pain. Sore throat was seen in ۷%of the participants. ۴% of participants suffered from itching and ۲% of them had experienced hives. The least common symptoms were petechia, cardiac sequels, nasal congestion and rhinorrhea (۰.۵%) and hemoptysis with ۰% occurrence.Conclusion: The prevalence of Post Covid-۱۹ is very high among those who recovered from SARS-CoV-۲. It would be helpful if there was a plan on having follow-ups and treatments according to the possibility of each symptom’s occurrence.
