چکیده مقاله:
Abstract: Most infections are treated with antibiotics, but in certain cases antibiotic resistance reduces the efficacy of antibiotics. Several methods have been examined to reduce antibiotic resistance, one of which is the use of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). The objective of this study is to express the effect of mesenchymal stem cells on improving infection or decreasing antibiotic resistance. We first searched for the topic in reputable PubMed scientific databases, according to the keywords in the article which contained: mesenchymal stem cells, antibiotic resistance, and mesenchymal stem cells - Antimicrobial property and mesenchymal stem cells– immune system Axises. Both human and animal papers on this topic were used in this study. Studies have shown that mesenchymal stem cells extracted from the bone marrow, umbilical cord, adipose and others, have immunomodulating properties. Their antimicrobial properties occur by influencing some pumps in target cells or by increasing white blood cells. It also affects certain peptides like cathelicidin, proteins and cytokines (IL-۶ IL-۱β و TNF-α), which are associated with infection improvement. Furthermore, by altering the gene expression of certain proteins, they cause antimicrobial effects, for example by affecting the membrane protein OprD۲ of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, reduces antibiotic resistance. In the future, treatment with mesenchymal stem cells may be an alternative to antibiotics or a supplement to them in the treatment of infections.
