This review article discusses the importance of economic diversification as a strategy for promoting sustainable development and economic growth in desert cities. The review explores the role of policies and strategies in promoting economic diversification, including tax incentives, regulations, and public-private partnerships. It also examines the challenges and opportunities associated with economic diversification, particularly related to transportation, energy, and water supply. The article recommends that policymakers focus on creating an enabling environment for economic diversification, invest in infrastructure and logistics, and attract foreign investment while ensuring that economic diversification strategies are sustainable and inclusive. The article provides several recommendations for future research and action in the field of desert city economics and sustainable development. These include conducting more case studies, exploring the potential of renewable energy sources, analyzing the role of social capital, investigating the impact of economic diversification on income inequality and social welfare, exploring the role of education and training, analyzing the impact of political and social factors, investigating the impact of global economic trends and events, examining the role of cultural and creative industries, and analyzing the potential of tourism as a driver of economic diversification. The review article makes significant contributions to the field of economics and sustainable development in desert cities by highlighting the importance of economic diversification in promoting sustainable development and identifying the policies and strategies that can be used to achieve it. It emphasizes the need for sustainable and inclusive economic diversification strategies that promote long-term economic growth while preserving natural resources and protecting the environment and ensuring that economic benefits are shared equitably across different segments of society.Overall, the review article provides a comprehensive overview of the current state of knowledge on economic diversification in desert cities and identifies important areas for future research and action. It has the potential to inform the development of effective policies and strategies for promoting sustainable economic growth and development in desert cities.
