چکیده مقاله:
George Herbert’s Love Unknown has been the case of study for many scholars. The poem dealswith an afflicted speaker who tells the story of God’s punishments to his friend. A key elementthat has been discussed by numerous scholars is the identity of the friend in the poem and howhe acts as a spiritual guide. This essay, by viewing the poem through the scope of Lacanianpsychoanalysis and precisely by the help of the discourses proposed by Lacan, states that theimportant aspect about the character of the friend is the discourse he adopts.
