چکیده مقاله:
Developing four skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing). in language learning is the main purpose for learning English as a foreign language (EFL), In this way the learners develop their skills faster. Teachers and textbooks as the important sources of materials in EFL education play vital roles to improve students' language skills. Improving language skills need learners' active participation. The present study evaluated the ۷th grade pre high school English textbook based on ۳ EFL/ESL textbook evaluation schemes as the corpus research. Ansary (۲۰۰۲). In this study, a descriptive qualitative approach, using content analysis of the textbook, was used to evaluate Iranian ۷th -grade pre high school English textbook Prospect ۱ in terms of above schemes. This research is a case study that determine the overall pedagogical value and suitability of the book towards students’ needs. For this purpose, the researcher carried out the evaluation process through observation and note taking. The ۳ EFL/ESL textbook evaluation schemes served as the corpus of the present study. Based on the findings, it is suggested appropriate language skills activities should be included that in Iranian seventh grade English textbook to enable learners to interact accurately in this, study provides some helpful guidance which might be useful for Iranian English language material developers and teachers of seventh-grade pre high school to reconsider the textbook content.
