Lunacy and Alienation on the Bridge

In this paper I will attempt to analyze one of the most well-known works of the brilliant Norwegian painter, Edvard Munch. Four Girls on a Bridge is an expressionist work of art painted in many different versions throughout Munch’s career. I will focus on the ۱۹۰۵ painting exploring themes of insanity, death, and purity. The paper offers an overall biography of the painter himself providing insights on the personal aspects of this painting, and consequently, moves on to address some of the scholarly debates surrounding the painting combined with the author’s personal interpretation of the work based on the data presented.
