چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: Suicidal thoughts and actions are serious public health issues that have serious consequences anywherein the world. both industrialized and developing nations experience a somewhat high rate of pregnancycomplications related to psychiatric disorders. With depression and anxiety being the most prevalent, bothpregnancy and the postpartum are typical times for the onset or relapse of psychiatric symptoms and disorders.Women with a diagnosis of depression or bipolar disorder have a much higher prevalence of suicidal tendencies.Considering the importance of the suicidal thoughts in women in reproductive age and the damage it may cause tosociety we wrote this review article.Materials and Methods: keywords suicidal thoughts,suicide attempt, depression, reproductive health and pregnancywere conducted in Science direct, PubMed, Google Scholar databases and finally ۳۸ articles of the latest and mostrelevant studies were selected and reviewed.Results: A history of psychiatric illness is just one of the many potential risk factors that may be involved in suicidalbehavior during pregnancy and postpartum. It’s been discovered that abuse, whether it was experienced as an adultor a child, is strongly linked to suicidal thoughts and suicide attempts. Lack of social support is especially crucialduring the prenatal period and is strongly related to suicidal behavior.Discussion & Conclusions: In order to create targeted initiatives to stop this tragic event, social and healthorganizations should use every effort to identify women who are at a high risk of suicide.
