چکیده مقاله:

In present research, mesopoures titanium carbide nanopowders and nanowhiskers were synthesizedby the sol-gel process using phenolic resin and titanium alkoxide as precursors. The synthesis processwas performed in a quaternary alkoxide-catalyst-dispersant-water system. The effect of synthesistemperature and soaking time on the free carbon content and the formation and morphology of TiCnanopowders was investigated. It was found that titanium carbide began to nucleate at a temperatureof approximately ۱۲۰۰°C and ended at ۱۴۰۰°C. Surface studies revealed that the pores on the surfaceof the synthesized nanopowders were in the meso range and had a specific surface area of ۱۵۰m۲/g.Microstructural images indicated that over time, TiC nanowhiskers nucleated heterogeneously fromthe particle surface and grew in a soaking time of ۳ h. The free carbon content detected in thesynthesized product under a soaking time of ۳ h was reported to be less than ۱%.
