Heterotopic pregnancy in a patient without a history of infertility therapy: a Case Report

A ۳۹-year-old woman, a case of G۴P۲Ab۲, presented in the emergency room. She had a history of ۴۴ days of amenorrhoea, followed by a ۳–۴-hour sudden severe periodic lower abdominal pain with chills, diarrhea, and mild vaginal bleeding. Beta-human chorionic gonadotropin (β-hCG) suggested pregnancy. Trans vaginal ultrasonography (TVS) revealed an echogenic zone inside the fundus and a cystic area with an internal echo in the left ovary. These findings suggested a hemorrhagic corpus luteum and a suspected echogenic region with a central cystic region medial to the right ovary. These findings according to β-hCG concentration suggest heterotopia. According to serial TVS reports and serial β-hCG levels, laparotomy and salpingectomy were done.
