چکیده مقاله:

The purpose of this research is to investigate the relationship between perfectionism and body image concern after childbirth in women in Tehran. The study population consisted of all women in Tehran who had given birth in the past year. The sample consists of ۳۰۰ subjects who were selected using the cluster sampling method. The main research instrument was Terry-Short's positive and negative perfectionism questionnaire (۱۹۹۵) and Littleton et al.'s (۲۰۰۵) Body Image Concern Inventory. According to the results of the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, the dimensions of perfectionism and body image had non-normal distribution. The Spearman test suggested the correlation between the positive dimension of perfectionism and body image concern (-۰.۳۵) and between the negative dimension of perfectionism and body image concern (+۰.۲۹). There is a significant but weak (positive) relationship between negative perfectionism and body image concerns. The relationship between positive perfectionism and concern about body image was significant but weak (negative). The findings of this research can be utilized to help investigate body image concern and screen postpartum women. It can also pave the way for adopting methods to alleviate body image dissatisfaction and enhance the mental health of women after childbirth.
