چکیده مقاله:

Background and aim: In many diseases , including osteoporosis and bone tumors , the volume of bone marrow fat content changes .The main purpose of this review article is to compare the bone marrow fat-signal fractions obtained from Dixon sequence with those from single-voxel magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) in patients with osteoporosis.Materials and method: In this review article the keywords were MRS , Dixon technique , fat quantification and bone marrow based on PubMed, Scopus and Google scholar databases during the ۲۰۰۰-۲۰۲۱s.Then, the information is collected by selecting featured articles. Results: Chemical shift-encoding water-fat imaging, called the Dixon method, has been applied for rapid measurement of fat content with high spatial resolution Many Dixon variants with two or more echo times have been developed to allow more consistent separation of fat and water signals after consideration to many confounding factors such as main magnetic field inhomogeneity effects, the presence of multiple peaks in the fat spectrum, T۲* effects, T۱ effects, eddy current effects, and the presence of susceptibility cause the fat resonance shifts in comparison the MRS is a useful technique for studying the triglyceride chemical composition of bone marrow in vivo . Since lipid peaks in marrow are usually incompletely resolved on H۱-MRS. These studies have shown that the percentage of Dixon based fat fraction measurement was well correlated with those calculated by MRS.Conclusion: Since the results of Dixon and MRS methods are highly correlated then(slope = ۰.۸۶, R۲ = ۰.۸۸, p < ۰.۰۰۱) , in order to overcome to MRS problems , the Dixon method can be substituted for spine fat content quantification.
