Impact of Infertility on Sexuality

Background: Many s tudies show that infertility and its treatmentmethods can affect sexual behaviors. Infertility often hass tress, psychological demands, and physically intrusive procedures.These can affect a person’s sexual self-image, desire, andperformance.Materials and Methods: The s tudy reviewed several significantarticles in the field between ۲۰۱۰ and ۲۰۲۲. Reviews in thejournal and PubMed, Science Direct, Elsevier, ProQues t, Willy,springer, and google scholar databases with keywords infertility,sexuality, sexual behavior, ART. The results were analyzedand ranked in a schematic way. For s tatis tical analysis, s tatis ticaltes ts were used.Results: The result shows that infertility and its treatment approachescould lead to changes in sexual self-es teem, sexualrelationship, and sexual function. Also, it can be associated withfailure, frus tration, anger, and resentment. The pressure to perform,and to have sex due to infertility treatment plans can pushcouples even further apart. Fertility treatments can make sexless spontaneous and less enjoyable.Conclusion: According to the present results, many infertilesubjects experienced trouble in various aspects of sexuality.Therefore, it should also be addressed whether these changesaffect the partners of the infertile couples.
