چکیده مقاله:

Background: Achillea millefolium (AM) has been consumed in folk medicine. S tudies have shown this plant can alleviatecomplications such as inflammation, hemorrhages, and pain. Inaddition, one of the organs vulnerable to inflammation is themale reproductive sys tem. Therefore, the present s tudy aimedto evaluate the efficacy of the hydroalcoholic extract of theplant after chronic exposure.Materials and Methods: In this research, twenty adult maleWis tar rats were randomly divided into control groups and normalrats received a hydroalcoholic extract of AM (a dose of ۳۰۰and ۵۰۰ mg/kg) by intraperitoneal injection for ۲۱ days. At theend of this s tudy, blood was collected in tubes containing anticoagulantsto determine tes tos terone levels, and tes ticular tissuewas sent to the laboratory for his topathological examination. Results: The use of the hydroalcoholic extract of AM at a doseof ۳۰۰ mg/kg has shown that this dose of AM extracts causeda significant increase in tes tos terone, LH, and FSH hormoneslevels and enhancement of tes ticular capsule thickness, Leydigcells population, and intensity of inters titial tissue. In addition,Tubular Differentiation Index(TDI) and Spermatogenesis Index(SPI) were significantly increased in the tes tis of the AM treatmentgroup compared to the control group (P=۰.۰۳) while adose of ۵۰۰ mg/kg could not increase these hormones levelsand had no significant effect on tes ticular tissue. Conclusion: According to the findings of this s tudy, AM at adose of ۳۰۰ mg/kg increased tes tos terone, LH, and FSH hormoneslevels and the positive effects on tes ticular tissue.
