چکیده مقاله:

Background: Microplas tics (MPs), as a new sus tainable environmentalcontaminant, could cross nutritional barriers andaccumulate in various body tissues. However, the his tologicaland his tomorphometric effects of polys tyrene-MPs (PS-MPs)on tes ticular tissue and their mechanism are unclear.Materials and Methods: In this s tudy, ۳۶ adult male NMRImice were randomized into four groups of ۹. The three groupsreceived microplas tics at ۰.۰۱, ۰.۱, and ۱ mg/kg BW orally for۴۲ days by gavage. The control group also received ۱ ml ofdis tilled water by gavage. Tissue samples were taken ۲۴ hoursafter the las t treatment. Tes ticular tissue samples were obtainedfrom mice, tissue procedures performed, and slides s tained withH&E.Results: The present s tudy showed that factors GSI index, Thenumber of Leydig cells, the height of the germinal epithelium,Seminiferous tube diameter, The mean diameter of seminiferoustubules, Sertoli cell proliferation, Spermatocyte proliferation,Positive tubular differentiation coefficient, Positive meiosiscoefficient, and Johnson index had a significant decrease (P< ۰.۰۵) and factors the thickness of the tes ticular capsule, thepercentage of degenerated cells, and Intermediate connectivetissue thickness significantly increased compared to the controlgroup (P < ۰.۰۵).Conclusion: Our findings showed that adminis tration of PSMPsto mice for ۴۲ days caused extensive changes in the sizeand tissue s tructure of the rat tes tis, affecting the sperm productionprocess, sperm quality, and ultimately fertility
