Background: Varicocele is one of the mos t important causesof male infertility. Naringenin is a flavonoid with high potentialof anti-oxidant and anti-apoptotic activity. The aim of presents tudy was to inves tigate the effect of Naringenin to reduce thedamage from varicocele in tes tes.Materials and Methods: ۲۴ male Wis tar rats were divided intofour groups: Control, Sham, VCL (varicocele induced rat) andN۲۰+C (varicocele with Naringenin (۲۰ mg/kg) treatment). After۲۱ days rats were scarified and the quality of tissue, oxidatives tress, HSP۷۰ expression and VEGF, BCL-۲, caspase-۳and IL-۶ genes expression in tes tes were evaluated.Results: The expression of HSP۷۰ in VCl group increased comparedto Sham group and in N۲۰+C group (P<۰.۰۰۱) was lowerthan VCL group (P<۰.۰۵). The MDA in VCL group increasedand SOD and TAC decreased compared to Control (P<۰.۰۱)and there was no significant difference between N۲۰+C andControl group. In VCL group the expression of VEGF (P<۰.۰۵),caspase-۳ (P<۰.۰۰۱) and IL-۶ (P<۰.۰۰۱) genes increased, andBCL-۲ (P<۰.۰۵) decreased in compare to Control group. Theexpression of VEGF (P<۰.۰۵) and BCL-۲ (P<۰.۰۵) increased,and caspase-۳ (P<۰.۰۰۱) and IL-۶ (P<۰.۰۰۱) genes decreased inN۲۰+C group in compared to VCL group.Conclusion: The expression of HSP۷۰ in VCl group increasedcompared to Sham group and in N۲۰+C group (P<۰.۰۰۱) waslower than VCL group (P<۰.۰۵). The expression of VEGF (P<۰.۰۵) and BCL-۲ (P<۰.۰۵)increased, and caspase-۳ (P<۰.۰۰۱) and IL-۶ (P<۰.۰۰۱) genesdecreased in N۲۰+C group in compared to VCL group.
