According to the questions of this study, the purposes of this study are as follows: First, the aimof this study is to examine if there is any relationship between written autonomy and written performanceof male EFL learners. Second, it tries to find out if there is any relationship between written self-confidenceand written performance of male EFL learners. Third, it ties to find out if there is any relationshipbetween written autonomy and written performance of female EFL learners. Fourth, it tries to examine ifthere is any relationship between written self-confidence and written performance of female EFL learners.Fifth, it tries to examine if there is any relationship between written self-confidence and written autonomyof Iranian EFL Learners. Sixth, it tries to find out if there is any significant difference between writtenautonomy of Iranian Male and female EFL learners. Finally, it tries to examine if there is a significantdifference between written Self-confidence of Iranian Male and female EFL learners. The participants whowill take part in this research are English learners at Islamic Azad University-Tabriz Branch in Iran. Theyare at intermediate level passing advanced English writing class. The age group is not confined. The studywill have male and female participants randomly. Then for having homogeneous groups, a modified PETtest is going to be used and those who get ±۱SD over or below the mean score will be chosen. The resultsshow that as a whole there is no difference between male and female written performance considering selfconfidenceand autonomy. Furthermore, there is no difference between self-confidence and writtenperformance of men and female students. There is a significant difference between autonomy and writtenperformance of male students; however, there isn’t any significant difference between autonomy andwritten performance of female students. As a whole, the mean score for autonomy is higher among femalestudents.
