"A world of perfect light": A Jungian Reading of P. B. Shelley's Act Four of Prometheus Unbound

Shelley wrote Prometheus Unbound in three acts by April ۱۸۱۹, but returned to it later that year toadd a fourth act to the play. The fact that Shelley added the fourth act about a year after having written act onethrough three confirms his discontent with his poetic achievement, that is, the descent into the alienated cave ofPrometheus. Using the Jungian Archetypal concepts of the conscious, the unconscious and the cave, this articlewill be an attempt to show that the cave at the end of the third act of Shelley's play functions as a whom to givebirth to a new consciousness associated with more light and energy.
