چکیده مقاله:

Undoubtedly, educational materials have valuable roles in paving the difficult way of teaching and learning. Teachers who use most of these materials in educational systems are increasingly recognizing the value of these materials. Materials development has a crucial role for educational progression. Since textbook evaluation as an important educational material plays a vital role for teachers and learner's success, a special care should be dedicated to textbook development. Nunan (۱۹۸۸) asserts that material has a significant role in curriculum development. In this study, a descriptive qualitative approach based on content analysis is used for Iranian tenth-grade senior high school English textbook evaluation, Vision ۱ English for Schools, according to Cunnigsworth's (۱۹۹۵) textbook evaluation checklist. Regarding the findings of the study it indicates that the textbook is not fulfilled with most of the checklist's criteria such as four language skills, attractive book cover, pronunciation practice, gender equality, CD/DVD player, and social and communicative development.
