The solar parabolic dish collector is one of the most efficient energy conversion technologies among the concentrating solar power (CSP) systems. The design and implementation of solar parabolic dish power plants will result in sustainable energy generation. Solar receiver plays a dominant role in the light-heat conversion in CSP systems. Its performance can directly affect the efficiency of the whole system. In this paper thermal performance of a point-focus solar steam generating system calculated under various climatic and operating conditions in Tehran (latitude= ۳۵.۶۸°N, longitude= ۵۱.۳۲°E) round the year. The highest wall temperature of the receiver is about ۲۵۰ ℃ which is higher than the water saturation temperature. Changing the wind angle or velocity can obviously affect the convective heat loss coefficient of the receiver. The heatloss of the solar receiver also reaches a maximum for the head-on wind flow. It was found that overall thermal efficiency of the conversion from direct solar irradiationenergy to generated steam is above ۴۰%, depending on the environmental condition and the average temperature of the receiver.
