Production waste management solutions in oil refineries according to national and international environmental standards

Refinery industry is one of the fast developing industries and it is expected to grow faster in the coming years. The purpose of oil refineries is to produce salable products from crude oil or other hydrocarbon raw materials. The main products of this industry include light and heavy oils, solvents, aromatics, etc. Recent environment activities and global requirements for cleaner methods have affected the oil refining industry and lead to the use of industrial waste management techniques. Waste management in every industrial Units is considered a mandatory and binding action based on the existence of national and international laws and regulations. Waste management in all industrial units is an integral part of the production process. In this article, the types of production wastes in oil refineries and the basic management and disposal of these wastes in accordance with national and international principles and regulations in order to prevent damage to the environment have been examined. Investigating and evaluating the current state of waste management, including the amount and composition of waste and how to collect it, and presenting scenarios to improve the state of the waste management system are among the most important goals of this study project.
