چکیده مقاله:

Background and Aim : Genital Mycoplasmas are the cause of genito-urinary tract infection. These organisms are associated with bacterial vaginosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, endometritis, cervicitis, non-venomous urethritis, spontaneous abortion, preterm labor, pneumonia, and neonatal meningitis. Therefore, this study was designed to detect Mycoplasmahominis, Mycoplasma genitalium and Ureaplasma urealyticum in women with vaginosis usingmultiplex-PCR method. Methods : In this cross-sectional study, a total of ۱۲۰ vaginal swab samples were collected fromnon-pregnant women (۶۰ women with vaginosis and ۶۰ healthy women). Demographic data wasobtained during the admission process by a gynecologist. After DNA extraction, Multiplex-PCRwas performed for simultaneous detection of M. hominis, M. genitalium and U. urealyticum. Theresults were analyzed by Chi-square test. Results : The age range of patients was ۲۱-۷۲ years old with a mean of ۳۳.۵ ± ۱۰.۲۳ and healthysubjects of ۱۸-۶۹ years with an average of ۴۳ ± ۸.۴ years. The prevalence of U. urealyticum andM. hominis were ۲۸.۳% and ۱۸.۳%, respectively. All specimens were negative for M. genitalium. Conclusion : Considering the potential effects of mycoplasmas on the complications of vaginosisand colonization in women, the mortality of infants, as well as the isolation of M. hominis and U.urealyticum in patients with genital infections, the need for diagnosis and treatment of thesepatients is urgently needed.
