چکیده مقاله:
Background and Aim : From a long time ago up to the present time, sheep abortion has beenconsidered as one of the most important problems in the sheep industry in many sheep-breedingcountries, including Iran and it causes heavy damages to the livestock economy of countries everyyear. Chlamydia abortus is one of the most important infectious agents that can cause abortion inruminants. This microorganism causes ovine enzotic abortion in sheep and goats, but is lessimportant in cattle. Chlamydia abortus usually affords to abortion in late pregnancy. In addition, infection with this microorganism may lead to stillbirth or the birth of weak lambs. This projectwas implemented with the aim of investigating the rate of chlamydial abortion in sheep farmsaround Tabriz. Methods : In this project, ۴۸ cases of aborted embryos (late in pregnancy) referred to MajidLaboratory from September ۲۰۲۰ to May ۲۰۲۱ were randomly selected. In the laboratory, afternecropsy, using aseptic techniques samples were taken from liver, spleen, lung, heart, brain andabomasum contents and were kept at -۲۰ ° C until DNA extraction. After DNA extraction, presenceof Chlamydia abortus was examined by a Nested PCR in the samples. Results : According to the results, ۲ samples out of ۴۸ (۴.۱۷%) was positive for Chlamydiaabortus. Conclusion : Isolation of Chlamydia abortus as one of the most important causes of abortion fromthe reference samples around Tabriz indicates that special attention should be paid to expandingresearches and implementing preventive and control measures in the province.
