چکیده مقاله:
Introduction: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a common neuropsychological disorder among children that might lead to disorders in daily activities. At the moment, presynaptic dopamine agonist drugs such as Methylphenidate (Ritalin) are used as a treatment. Some studies have addressed the role of shortage of plasma serotonin levels in emergence of this disease and the fact that using Pyridoxine can be useful in increasing the serotonin level and improving ADHD symptoms. Methods: In this clinical trial, a total number of ۵۰ children with ADHD in the age range of ۵-۱۲ years old who had visited Children’s Neurology Clinic were selected byconvenience sampling and were divided into two similar experimental groups. One group only received Ritalin as the treatment and the second group received Pyridoxine beside Ritalin. The change in the severity of the symptoms was analyzed using Conners Rating Scale. Results: The patients were divided into two experimental groups identical in terms of age and gender. The average disease-severity score in both groups reduced compared to the average score before the intervention (۲۳.۹۲ and ۳۲.۱۲ units, respectively) (PValue< ۰.۰۰۱). In addition, there was a significant difference (P-Value=۰.۰۰۶) between the severity of the symptoms in the groups after the intervention (the verage severity of symptoms was ۶۵.۰۹ and ۵۴.۰۰, respectively in children with ADHD. Conclusion: Adding ۴۰ mg pills of Pyridoxine hydrochloride (Vitamin B-۶) to thetreatment diet of children in the age range of ۵-۱۲ years old suffering from combined ADHD was followed by more reduction of the symptoms and increase in theeffectiveness of the treatment.
