The Middle East herbal tea and bupropion in comparison with sole bupropion for smoking cessation, a controlled trial

Introduction: According to WHO reports smoking is one of the main causes of cancer deaths; and nicotine dependency is currently one of the most common chronic diseases in the population. Beside these facts, Herbal Tea is used as a popular beverage worldwide and its ingredients are now finding medical benefits. This is a comparative study between smoking cessation via psychiatric, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, provocation interview and Middle East herbal tea addition.Method: A cross-sectional survey was done on ۹۸۰ male and female quite smoking clinic patients between March ۲۰۱۴ and February ۲۰۱۶ who want to quit smoking and they are in mid-range of Fagerstrφm Test Nicotine Dependence (FTND) score. Both groups received bupropion tab ۱۵۰ mg BD for ۶ weeks and one group additionally received the Middle East herbal tea twice daily. During treatment, all participants were contacted on a weekly basis, and their progress was monitored.Results: The documents indicate that ۵۵% of patient who uses herbal tea reduce their amount of usage but patients who did not use herbal tea just ۳۷%. And ۳۱% of patient who used herbal tea quit smoking in ۶ weeks but patients who did not use herbal tea just ۱۳%. It means that using herbal tea is double resentful and consequent.Conclusions: According to post survey on a patient, we found that using the mixture of the Middle East herbal tea have been caused to regulate sleep, improve mood, energy, and life satisfaction. And by studying the results of research, it can be seen that the combination of Middle Eastern herbs has had a significant impact on the reduction of smoking intake, and more people have been able to quit smoking by using these herbs as a supplemental treatment.
