Currently, the high penetration of small-scale energy resources in distribution networks has a great impact on the performance and planning of power systems. Adopting a microgrid (MG) is an effective solution to utilize distributed generation (DG) energy sources and connect them to a smart distribution network. On the other hand, the energy management of DGs in MGs plays a key role in reducing operating costs (OCs). In this paper, the energy management of power sources in smart MG is presented to reduce OCs and environmental pollution by considering demand response (DR). The equations considered for the energy management system (EMS) are nonlinear and of high order and different scenarios are considered to explain the results of the multi-objective function. To ensure proper operation, the proposed method has been implemented using the Multi-Objective Gray Wolf optimization (MOGWO) algorithm in MATLAB software on the sample MG with respect to the relevant constraints. The simulation results show that the effect of multi-objective function and the use of DR in reducing OCs and pollution is evident and demonstrate the effective performance of the suggested approach.
