چکیده مقاله:

There has been an attempt to find alternative energy resources due to the depletion of fossil energy resources in the world and their inherent risks. Due to the existence of wind energy as a clean and endless resource, there is a need for the countries of the world to recognize the importance of the issue in order to develop the offshore wind industry quickly. Considering the special features of the sea environment, it may also be considered a suitable environment for wind energy generation. Even though Iran has extensive offshore wind fields, the wind has not yet been harnessed. This may change in the not too distant future. The feasibility study is an extremely significant part of any offshore project since omitting this part will result in irreparable economic losses. In this paper, we examine the feasibility of installing offshore wind turbines from various perspectives, including economical, technical, structural, energy production, and effectiveness. Using three key parameters, including wind speed, water depth, and distance from shore, as well as statistical analysis, different areas of the Caspian Sea have been analyzed, and the most appropriate location for turbine installation has been identified. These investigations revealed that offshore wind turbine installation is not justified in southern areas and near the coast of Iran. Moreover, the capacity factor and mean annual energy production increased with increasing the hub height. All in all, the best candidate point in the southern part of the Caspian Sea was also selected to install these structures.
