چکیده مقاله:

Adaptations are getting common nowadays and as Linda Hutcheon claimed, ideas are fixed and finished, now it is the way art represent that idea is important. One issue which, literary figures and artists used to play with, is the thin border line between reality and illusion. In his play, Six characters in search of an Author (۱۹۲۱), Luigi Pirandello fooled audience cleverly. Ironically, he let the spectator watch what is going on in a backstage of a play and shattered the border between reality and illusion for that audience. The same happened for Woody Allen`s movie named Crimes and Misdemeanors (۱۹۸۹). In this paper, the focus is on the similar and different elements both works of art bear and to study whether Pirandello was a source of inspiration for Woody Allen or not. The way both stories present a single theme will be explained throughout this study.
