Knowledge, attitude and practice survey of healthcare providers about the COVID-۱۹ pandemic in Iraq

Background and Objective: Healthcare providers are at the frontline defense in health crisis, nowadays they stand against the COVID-۱۹ pandemic. Inadequate knowledge and incorrect attitudes among some healthcare workers can directly influence practices and lead to delayed diagnosis, poor infection control practice, and spread of disease. The study aim to assess the knowledge, attitude and practice of healthcare workers about the COVID-۱۹ pandemic in Iraq.Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted targeted non-probability sample of healthcare providers. Data collection by using an online survey via social media on February ۵th to ۸th, ۲۰۲۲/ Iraq. Descriptive data analysis was done, and outputs presented as frequency and percentages.Results: A total of ۳۹۳ healthcare workers participated in the study. The mean age of the participants was ۳۵.۸۰±۱۱.۳۰ years, and ۵۳.۹% female responses. ۸۸% have a good knowledge about vaccine efficacy to prevent or produce disease. ۵۰% have awareness about don’t have a specific drug for Covid-۱۹. ۶۳% no knowledge about incubation period of disease. More than ۸۸% good awareness to identify the suspected cases. and ۹۶% were vaccinated and more than ۵۰% still practicing prevention measures against Covid-۱۹ Thant involving regular hand washing, keeping distance from any person and wearing face masks. The best age group that vaccinated was between ۲۵-۳۴ years Pfizer was ۸۶% , AstraZeneca ۱۲% and Sinopharm ۳۳%.Conclusion: Health care workers are the most risk group among people, and this has made them more responsive to the knowledge of the Covid-۱۹ pandemic. in the current study show that most health workers are vaccinated against Covid-۱۹. And more than ۵۰% knew there was no special drugs for the disease. And a high percentage of them needed to know the incubation period of Covid-۱۹. And most of the participants in the current study had a good awareness of knowing the suspectable cases of the disease. And most health workers are still practicing to preventive measures such as washing hands and wearing masks, despite receiving the vaccine. Most health workers received the Pfizer vaccine.
