چکیده مقاله:
Abstract:Objectives: The economic impact of acute respiratory diseases pandemics has yet to be specifically systematically reviewed. The aim of this scoping review is to identify and classify the economic impacts and its values and ranges. Methods: We conducted a literature search across three key databases using an extensive list of key words for the time period ۱۹۸۵-۲۰۲۰. We included studies which explored direct costs, indirect costs and broader economic impact in various countries associated with different ۹ respiratory diseases (pandemic and seasonal Influenza, Avian Influenza, Equine influenza, Swine influenza, SARS, COVID-۱۹, MERS, H۱N۱ and H۷N۹).Results: We included ۶۲ full-text studies in English language, mostly from the countries of East Asia and Pacific pertinent cost data found in ۵۱ papers. We classified the economic impact in five categories; Impact on health system, macroeconomic impacts, direct and indirect cost in industry sector, impact on businesses and trade and educational impacts and ۱۸ subcategories. Conclusion: The economic impact of acute respiratory diseases pandemics encompasses multiple dimensions such as the costs of providing and receiving health services, disease management, industries (aviation industry, tourism, agriculture and livestock, etc.), trade, education, and indirect costs due to productivity losses as well as some evidence on broader determinants to the wider economy. Evidence from the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia remains very limited. Heterogeneity of methods used to estimate cost components makes data synthesis challenging. There is a strong need for standardizing research, data collection and evaluation methods for both direct and indirect cost components.
