This paper presents a steady-state energy, exergy, environmental and economic (۴E) analysis for hybrid compression-absorption refrigeration system on a merchant ship. Exhaust gases of auxiliary engines are used to vaporize high pressure water as a heat source for the generator of the absorption section. The results show that exhaust gases of auxiliary engine unlike main engine is an appropriate and permanent heat source for the system. based on tropical conditions, fuel consumption and total irreversibility rate of the proposed system are ۹۱.۸% and ۲۶% less than conventional system (vapor compression refrigeration system) respectively. Because of the anxiety about environmental issues, an environmental analysis has been conducted that the results show that the application of hybrid compression-absorption refrigeration system causes ۶۸۶۶۴ $ annual saving versus vapor compression refrigeration system due to reduction in CO۲ emission penalty(cost). Also, economic analysis has been done where the results show ۳ years and ۳ months for payback time of proposed system.
