The effectiveness of table tennis and aerobics exercises on the balance performance of deaf children

Deaf children have balance problems compared to normal children. Different sports have different dependencies on the sensory systems involved in balance, and athletes have different balance functions in balance tests depending on the type of sport they play. The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of table tennis and aerobics exercises on static and dynamic balance of deaf girls in Kermanshah. This research was a quasi-experimental research with pre-test-post-test design in terms of implementation and data collection method. The statistical population of the present study included deaf female students in Kermanshah. Thirty deaf female students aged ۱۰ to ۱۲ years participated in the present study voluntarily. At first, the anthropometric characteristics of all participants were recorded and participants participated in stork and star equilibrium pre-tests. Subjects were then randomly assigned to two groups of table tennis and aerobics. Participants in both groups performed their exercise program for ۱۲ weeks (two one hour sessions per week). Univariate analysis of covariance and independent t test in Spss-۲۳ software were used to analyze the data. The results showed that table tennis and aerobic exercises had different effects on static and dynamic balance of deaf children. Participating in aerobic exercise significantly improved static balance compared to participating in table tennis exercises (p <۰۰۱). On the other hand, table tennis exercises had a significant effect on improving the dynamic balance of deaf children compared to aerobic exercises (p <۰۰۱). Compared to table tennis exercises, aerobic exercises had a greater effect on the static balance of deaf children, while table tennis exercises were better than aerobic exercises to improve the dynamic balance of deaf children.
