چکیده مقاله:

The high level of professionalism and automation in modem society, reduced physical activities and lack of exercise have led to more musculoskeletal diseases. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of swiss ball training and ear acupuncture on pain and functional disability of working women with non-specific chronic low back pain.In the present quasi-experimental study, ۴۵ patients with non-specific chronic low back pain ranging from ۳۰ to ۵۵ years in age, participated as subjects who were selected and randomly divided into three groups of ۱۵ (swiss ball, ear acupuncture and control). The Swiss ball and ear acupuncture groups underwent therapeutic intervention for ۶ weeks during which the control groups did not experience any therapeutic intervention. The Visual Analog Scale was used to assess pain and for functional disability, the Oswestry questionnaire was utilized. Having used the inferential statistics (ANOVA and paired t-test), the results of between groups and within groups were analyzed, respectively. The findings of the present study showed that pain intensity and functional disability were significantly reduced in the swiss ball and ear acupuncture groups (p = ۰/۰۰۰); however, no significant difference was observed between the two experimental groups on the post test. (p>۰/۰۵)According to the results of the present study, it seems that both interventions (swiss ball exercises and ear acupuncture) can reduce the severity of pain and functional disability in working women with non-specific chronic low back pain. Physicians and physical education educators are expected to use them as a non-invasive treatment with minimal side effects and costs, along with other treatment to help improve people with non-specific chronic low back pain.
